Welcome to CASA of Calloway and Marshall Counties, Inc.
Hello,
There are children in our community who are abused or neglected, are frightened, confused, overwhelmed, lonely and sad. Unfortunately, the adults the children trust the most are not always there to support them.
That’s where CASA comes in. CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Our volunteers are everyday citizens from all walks of life with a variety of backgrounds. They have all passed background checks and have completed a rigorous training. They may be educators, business people, grandparents, retirees, or stay-at-home moms -- but they are all committed to bringing the voice of a child to the ears of the Court. Yes, our volunteers are people JUST LIKE YOU! CASA Volunteers are directed by the Court to observe a child in his or her home or foster-care environment, and gather first-hand information from anyone involved in the child's life. The information is then presented to the Court to assist the Judge in his or her evaluation of the child's situation. In short, a CASA Volunteer is the eyes, ears, and voice for a child caught up in the labyrinth of the Court. The mission of CASA of Calloway and Marshall Counties, Inc. is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Family Court by utilizing committed and trained citizen volunteers from our community and collaborating with other agencies as needed. CASA of Calloway and Marshall County is funded solely by grants and through the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals in our community. If you would like information about becoming a CASA Volunteer Advocate or would like to provide financial support for this most vital mission, please contact me at 270-761-0164 or by email at casacc@murray-ky.net .
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Karen E. Darnell Karen E. Darnell, Executive Director
