Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nationwide movement of trained community volunteers who speak up for abused and neglected children in court.
Children all around our nation benefit from CASA. Currently, there are over 900+ CASA programs nationwide serving in excess of 300,000 children with more than 50,000 volunteers. The National CASA Association was established in 1982 to provide a national focus for individual CASA programs, promote the CASA concept, provide technical assistance to new programs, and support with volunteer recruitment and public awareness outreach. In 1990, the United States Congress encouraged the expansion of CASA programs by passing the Victims of Child Abuse Act.
For some kids, childhood means soccer games, birthday parties and family picnics. For others, it means abuse, neglect, and years in foster care waiting for a chance for a safe, permanent and loving home. These are the kids who need your voice.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, please contact our CASA office for more information. We will be offering Independent Study training soon! Ask us about it!
